SPECTACLE FRAMES All our branches stock a massive selection of frame styles. The core ranges will be the same at each branch but Designer Name ranges can vary, e.g. Chanel can be found at Abbeydale Road branch, Christian Dior at Woodhouse branch, but all the branches stock a wide choice of Designer Name ranges, and if we do not have a particular Designer Name frame, we normally can source it for you. All our frames are priced to include plastic single vision lenses, you just pay the difference for thinner lenses, varifocals etc. We have recently introduced a value range for patients on a limited budget, or who just want an inexpensive second pair; just £39.95 for a complete pair of specs; or you can buy from a selected range on our website for even cheaper!
SPECTACLE LENSES We at MKO are proud to have been appointed “SEIKO Lens Specialists”. SEIKO, the watch manufacturers, also produce superb quality spectacle lenses. All their branded lenses have a durable, anti-reflection, easy clean coating, which improves the appearance of your spectacles by cutting out light reflections and giving you more comfortable vision. Currently, there are only 200 SEIKO Lens Specialists in the country. Chairman of the MKO group, Martyn Kemp, wears SEIKO varifocals and say they’re the best varifocals he has ever worn and give him the widest clear area of vision he’s ever had. The SEIKO varifocals can also be fitted in virtually any size of spectacle frame. So if you want, in Martyn’s opinion, the best, ask for SEIKO lenses.
PRESCRIPTION SUNGLASSES We have a very large range of frames that we sell with prescription sunglass lenses for just £65 complete. We also stock Guess, Gant & Tommy Hilfiger sunglasses that can be glazed with your spectacle prescription, including varifocals. Other sunglasses ranges include Rayban, Armani, Gucci, again some of which can be glazed. And if you want your old glasses tinted to use as sunspecs, this we can do for just £12, providing the lenses are not already coated.
UV BLOCKER For people who work out of doors a lot, an Ultra violet blocker (a clear lens coating) is recommended, as it could delay the onset of macular degeneration when you get older. However, potentially more harmful UV enters a young person’s eyes before the age of 20 than at any other time of their life, so young peoples’ eyes need protecting. Therefore, for children, MKO provides a UV blocker free of charge on all new specs. Transitions lenses, that go darker in the sun, also absorb UV light.
