EYE EXAMINATIONS

At MKO we offer a range of services to suit each of our patients eyecare needs including NHS and private eye examinations.

Having an eye examination isn’t just about your vision, it can tell Optometrists a lot about your overall eye health and help them identify any potential issues such as: high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, diabetes and glaucoma. 

It is advised that you have regular eye examinations at least every 2 years. The national guidelines for the recommended intervals for an NHS eye examination are:

NHS Exemptions

You are entitled to an eye examination under the NHS if you fit one of these criteria:

  • Children and students under the age of 19

  • 60 and over

  • Diabetic

  • Glaucoma sufferers and their immediate relatives over 40 years old

  • In receipt of Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance, Working Family Tax Credit and Employment & Support Allowance.

  • Exemption certificate (HC2)

  • Complex lenses requirement
